I've been doing some SEO for our company's website and I agree that link building is very important for a website. I tried different link building tactics and I must say I like the directory submission, article submission and blog commenting the most. With the use of automatic submission tools, directory submission, article submission and blog commenting are made quick and easy. Yes, writing articles requires time and effors, but it's possible to hire a writer to create the articles if one is not good at writing.

Link building is definitely the must-have process if your website needs to rank on search engines, no matter what the reason. Past a certain point, the only way to move up in rankings is to get more quality sites to link to yours. It's kind of a trap though, because once you achieve a ranking, you'll lose it unless you keep building quality links at a similar pace. That's one of the (many) reasons it's nice to have a dedicated SEO expert take care of the ongoing tedium of getting links to your site.
